Institute for Research in Technology

IIT is a research center of ICAI School of Engineering, which belongs to the University Pontificia Comillas, Madrid, Spain.

Its main objective is to promote research and post-graduate studies in different technological fields, by means of developing research projects of interest for the Industry and Administration.

  • María Domínguez Gago, Maite Peña Alcaraz and Carlos Sicre Vara del Rey have been awarded the “Premio Jóven Investigador CIT 2010” in the IX Congreso de Ingeniería del Transporte (CIT), for their work “Distribución óptima de holguras de tiempo en horarios de trenes con restricciones de puntualidad”.
  • Ignacio Pérez-Arriaga was selected editor of the Fifth Assessment Report on climate change order by United Nations. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has selected 831 experts from around the world to develop the document. More...
  • IIT researchers Jesús Jiménez Octavio, Miguel Such Taboada, Alberto Carnicero López and Eduardo Pilo de la Fuente, have received The Talgo Award for Technological Innovation 2010, with the project "Simulation, calculation and optimization of railways".
  • 10 of the undergraduate thesis developed during academic year 2008-2009 have been awarded by Sun Microsystems, Asociación/Colegio de Ingenieros del ICAI, Accenture, Cátedra BP de desarrollo sostenible, Endesa, Everis, Iberdrola, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
  • Lukas Sigrist wins the European Talent Award for Innovative Systems organized by The European Foundation for Power Engineering (EFPE) for his master thesis "Design of Underfrequency Load-Shedding Schemes of Small Isolated Power Systems", under supervision of Luis Rouco
  • Master thesis entitled "Impact of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) on power systems" developed by Luis Pieltain under supervision of Tomás Gómez, has been selected as one of the 6 best contributions in the European Talent Award for Innovative Systems organized by The European Foundation for Power Engineering (EFPE).
  • The European Commission awards the ERASMUS MUNDUS to an ICAI international doctorate in “Sustainable Energy Technologies and Strategies”. SETS is the only coordinated by an Spanish University, among the 13 awardees across Europe. SETS Joint Degree will be offered by Comillas-ICAI, TUDelft (The Netherlands) and KTH (Sweden) in consortium with Johns Hopkins University (USA), Florence School of Regulation (Italy) and Paris SUD 11 (France).

  • IEC 61850 within the Framework DENISE (Intelligent, Secure and Efficient distribution of electricity). Developed under national CENIT program  info
  • System based in a small helicopter and mobile robots for efficient generation of resources maps. Application to the precise spreading and minimization of pesticides. Developed for MEC Plan Nacional I+D+I  info
